Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows optional
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Boil the cubed sweet potatoes in salted water until soft, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash until smooth.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until well mixed.
  • Spread the sweet potato mixture evenly into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the chopped pecans with a little brown sugar. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the sweet potatoes.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  • For an optional topping, add mini marshmallows in the last 10 minutes of baking, allowing them to melt and turn golden.
