Ingredients

  • 200 g (7 oz) unsalted butter
  • 150 g (¾ cup) brown sugar
  • 100 g (½ cup) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) real maple syrup
  • 225 g (1¾ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 150 g (1 cup) white chocolate chips
  • 100 g (1 cup) chopped pecans
  • 50 g (¼ cup) cream cheese
  • 60 ml (¼ cup)heavy cream
  • 100 g (¾ cup) powdered sugar
  • Butter pecan ice cream for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal. Toast the pecans lightly in a pan until fragrant; set aside.
  • To brown the butter, melt it in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly to prevent curdling the eggs.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth and well incorporated. Then, add large eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and real maple syrup for a sweet, aromatic boost.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined. Stir in white chocolate chips and toasted pecans.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are crisp and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool before cutting into squares.
  • For the cream cheese glaze, beat softened cream cheese with heavy cream and powdered sugar until smooth and velvety. Drizzle over cooled blondies for an added layer of indulgence. Serve with butter pecan ice cream for the ultimate dessert experience.
